Daddy turned 31 on March 10th!

Daddy turned 31 on March 10th! He had to work and then Emma had ice skating so we all got home late and popped some chicken nuggets and fries in the oven for dinner, but made it up to him my making his favorite cake...a better than *** cake.

I thought it would be fun to interview the kids and ask them why their Daddy was so special:

Nathan said, "I like to play, play, play". And yes, that is true, Lucas definently plays with his children. He's always up for some crazy made up game the kids want to play.

My daddy is #1!

Emma had a few more ideas.....Emma likes to ride the bull (her daddy) on the trampoline, talk about something (especially sharks) after books and prayers at bedtime, play tickle torture and wrestle, go fishing, have a dance party, play the guitar and sing and go ice skating together. Dance Paaaarrrrrrttttttyyyyyyy! And why do I think he's great...well, he's super Hot of course! He's patient, easy-going, fun to be around, considerate, giving, loyal and strong (Big muscles and of strong good character). He's also the spiritual leader in our home and has taught our children to love God, that Jesus died on the cross for us and how to pray in thankfullness and for others. He's a hands-on dad and enjoys everything about his children. He takes over when he gets home from work playing, giving them baths and putting them to bed. Happy Birthday Daddy! We Love you!

Hear Ye, Hear Ye, Our Family is Growing!

Lucas and I will be adding a new little one to our family in September. My actual due date is September 14. I am now in my 14th week and finally the second trimester!

Our first appointment in January confirmed a little beating heart. Praise God! The kids were amazed by the ultrasound and didn't even seem put off that the baby we've been talking about looks like a lima bean.

I was very sick and very tired from week 5 to week 13 which was not alarming since I was sick with both Emma and Nathan and had anticipated all the time I would spend with my head in the toilet. I just didn't remember it being so bad. I was sick morning, noon and night (nausea and vomitting).

Emma talks constantly about what she's going to do with the baby. She will be such a good big sister, just like she is to Nathan. She told me that she will take care of the baby and I can take care of Nathan. I'm sure we will have several talks about who is the mommy and who is the big sister, but I love how nurturing my little girl is and plan to let her be involved in everything she can!

Nathan has made us very aware that he will not be sharing cowman or frogman(his little blankets and BFF's) with the new baby, yet he already gets the concept that he needs to sit nicely on me and not jump up and down. He tells us often that he is going to be a big budder (brother) and the baby is going to sleep in his room and ride by him in the car.

Lucas is very excited - he and Emma have been asking for another baby for about a year now. He's been helpful as usual and continues to get my vote for husband and dad of the year.

Great Harvest Bread Co. Field Trip and Hill Aerospace Museum

Oh what a busy day!.....we spent the morning at Great Harvest Bread Co. and the afternoon at Hill Aerospace Musem.

Emma's preschool class enjoyed a field trip to Great Harvest Bread Co. this morning and Nathan and I went along. The tour was given by a funny and energetic employee. The kids learned about the ingredients that go into the bread, the process and about bread making equipment! Then they were all able to taste the bread. What a fun, educational and yummy morning field trip! The mom's also went home with a free loaf coupon and a free sandwich coupon. Score for the chaperones!

We live just South of Hill Air Force Base and this afternoon we went to Hill Aerospace Museum and enjoyed looking at all the planes! Cowman tagged along with us too....hmm...how did Cowman get out of the house? Was he hiding in Nathan's shirt?

Kids in the Kitchen Playgroup and Fire Station Tour

Kids in the Kitchen Playgroup: We made yummy salty sweet treats. We put a hershey kiss on mini pretzels, put them in the oven for 4-5 minutes and then pushed an M&M on the top.

Playgroup tour at one of the Layton Fire Stations. It was a great event for a rainy/snowy day and the kids all left with a fun plastic fireman hat. I was so surprised at how well the kids answered all the firemen's questions about fire safety. Lucas came home early and I left Nathan with him because last time we visited the fire station, Nathan was intimidated by the firemen in all their gear.

Celine Dion Concert

I finally made it to a Celine Dion concert! This has been on my list of 20 things to do in my life since I was a little girl. I'm sure alot of you remember that I loved Celine even before she made it "big". Over the years her personality seems to have changed a little, but one thing is for certain...the woman can still BLOW! She delivers a song flawlessly and anyone can appreciate the fact that she is not a studio artist and this woman can really sing. I was really excited, but when she took the stage and sang her first line, I wasn't ready for the emotion that overcame me. I am digging out all my old CD's! Our friends, Michele and Teri, stayed with the kids and it was sooooo nice to have a night out with my husband and know that they could handle my little mama's boy. Much love and thanks again girlfriends! Granite (the company Lucas works for) has a luxury box at the Energy Solutions Arena so we enjoyed the concert for FREE with a great dinner, dessert, drinks and a bathroom. It's also fun to sit in the box because you get a great view of all the fun fans down front.

Northern Wasatch Mommies Playgroup

In October 2007, I started a mom's group here in Layton. It was originally called The Layton Mom's Group, but has now changed to Northern Wasatch Mommies because we now have moms from several areas along the Northern Wasatch Front. There are now around 60 moms and lots of children involved in our group. My wonderful friend, Nanette, has taken over the head organizer position and my friends Chauntelle, Anna, Kathy and I all work together as assistant organizers with Nanette to provide 4-5 events each week for our group. Here are a few pictures from the last few playdates!

We have had some breaks in the weather, it has started to warm up and the snow has almost all melted so we have been able to get outside more often. We love living at the end of the cul de sac and our view is so pretty with the snow capped mountains.

Lucas rigged up Nathan's bike with a rope so we can all keep up with speedy Emma!

Daddy's fishing buddy!

The day has finally come....... Emma is interested in spending the day fishing with her dad and she is old enough to know how to stay far enough away from the water so that she does not fall in. This has been such a new and fun activity for them to do together. We have all gone fishing together too, but Nathan is not quite ready to safely spend that much time near the water. So, Emma and daddy go fishing on the weekends during Nathan's nap time and I enjoy an hour or two getting a much needed task done or resting.

Field Trip to Papa Murphy's Pizza

Emma's preschool class took a field trip to Papa Murphy's Pizza. They enjoyed a tour and each of them made their own personal pizza. Here is a picture of Emma's teacher, Mrs. Hering and her 4 year old preschool class.

Ice Skating Update

Emma is continuing to take ice skating lessons each Tuesday. Every 6 weeks she enters a new level and class. She cracks me up. She is physical, aggressive and likes to go fast. We are continually telling her to take her time and work on her skill and that she doesn't always have to be the first one to the other side of the rink. Jep, she ended up with a hereditary competitive edge.

Christmas

Here are a few pictures we took over the Christmas Holiday. We drove to Choteau on Christmas Eve day and spent about a week there with family and we were also able to catch up and spend some time with old friends.
